History

This minecraft community has a short history.

Deep in the pandemic, the first minecraft server was created by rutrum and was hosted on Minecraft Realms. It had a very small roster, and an even smaller active player base: mostly 3 people.

When 1.18 completely overhauled world generation and caving, it necessitated a new world.

The next world was still hosted on Realms. While it had a similar roster, it had slightly more active players. But there was not a strong community, and after so long of inactivity, Dave decided to close the server and not start a new world. His closing message on Discord included the following:

Hello all @everyone. The server has gone some time without activity (at least 6 months), so I figured I might as well pull the plug. That’s not to say I’m done with minecraft, just since we aren’t using it, I’ll suspend the server.

In the future, I am likely not to return to realms, but instead managing my own server. This will allow full control regarding performance as well as mods and plugins. I will be happy to pick up minecraft in the future (maybe 1.20 release? or another time later) if the group feels interested (or others that want to join the group). Thanks for reading and playing minecraft!

At Minecon 2023, they announced the crafter block for Minecraft 1.21. This was a dramatic change in the meta of the game, and it reinvogorated Dave to start the server again.

With the help of TroyFromAce, a long time active player, the two gave new life to the Minecraft server with new branding, new dedicated hosting with server mods, and a much longer list of invitees to the server.

Paradisus Season 1 was the most active and engaging season by far. It had a plethora of events, minigames, amazing builds and farms, and a wide reach of the minecraft world.

At the year and a half mark, with engagement wearing thin, it was decided to retire the first Paradisus world, and start anew.

Now with the help of Dehod, the three are preparing season 2 for December 2025. This season will have the most planning, which we hope will translate with better control over the server infrastructure, and better communication and resources for players.
